Our activities & Sports

This is a list of most of the activities and sports we provide. You can ask for these as a single taster session, a party, or multi activity day. These are what we blend together to make School activity days and our Holiday Club.

Archery

We have a purpose-built archery range that can accommodate 2 groups of about 10 per group. We use real bows and real arrows for real fun.

We have small bows for 7 years old and over and adult bows for the 'young at heart'.

1 to 1.5 hour session is usually enough before your fingers start to hurt.

(We can take this activity off site if you have suitable grounds).

Bouldering (Climbing games)

Our bouldering wall is suitable for groups of approximately 10. Remember climbing isn't all about going up its about hanging on!

Suitable for 6 years upwards. It is not a large wall but with a variety of fun games it is one of our favourite activities to run for children and adults alike.

Cycling games & trail rides

Maximum of 10 per session.

We have different size bikes for 8 years old and upwards.

Participants must be able to ride a bike - if some can't we put them on a different activity (if there is one running).

We wear helmets & gloves mandatory.

We always start with teaching/assessing basic skills before progressing out for a ride around the local area.

We are able to run mini training and assessment sessions for GCSE PE.

(We can take this activity off site if you have suitable grounds).

Mobile Climbing Wall/Tower

2024 sees our new climbing wall added to our offer. It can be used at our centre or if you have suitable grounds we can come to you

(We can take this activity off site if you have suitable grounds).

Rafted canoeing

Canoes strapped together with a beam to make them impossible to capsize.

Participants never fall in. Don't need helmets.

On static sessions at our centre we can play games.

On river trips we can put 6 people in each and take large groups.

Very popular with uniformed youth groups as an evening trip.

Sit On Top kayaking

Great during the summer if it's warm.

Can fall in - so we don't do this on school activity days.

Often offered on the Summer Holiday Club.

Can be done on request as Taster session for families or friends groups (Summer).

Most popular as a river trip option.

Must wear helmet and 'sensible shoes' - not sandals or crocs.

You will get wet and you must wear strong shoes and if on the river a helmet that we provide.

Can be done on request as Taster session for family or friends groups.

No wetsuits provided - only a summer activity.

This activity is offered on the river and also local canals.

Teamwork challenges

We have a series of challenges of that take around 15 minutes each..we use a selection to make up into a full session.

The challenges can be varied for children and adults. We find adults have as much fun ( if not more) than younger groups.

We've run these on our site or come to yours.

Orienteering

Real map for our permeant courses.

Easy to hard courses inside our grounds or out in the meadowland.

Greater Manchester has extensive locations for orienteering and we make use of all of these with some groups.
