Outdoor activities and sports

Group size usually 10 (max of 12).
Session duration between 1-1.5 hours

Archery

Basic technique taught and games played
Child and adult sized bows.

Climbing

We have our own purpose built Bouldering wall which is great for games and learning movement skills. Bouldering is popular as all the group get to climb at same time without having to wear equipment and wait turns.

We can run sessions at local climbing walls and sessions at outdoor crags. Our climbing instructor, Stuart, coaches the GB Youth Team.

Canoeing

Group size maximum 32 at a time
Duration min 1.15 hrs to a whole day

Options:
* Canoe fun and games session on a section of river at our base – usually as part of a Multi-activity day or party.
* Guided trips from our base on the river Mersey. Short / medium / long. Or Guided trips on local canals (See Go Canoeing Pages)
* Skills courses to learn and improve (See courses & Qualifications page)
* Bespoke trips and expeditions e.g. multiday trips in Lakes, Wye, Severn, Great Glen

Kayaking

Options:
Sit On Top kayaks – single or double seats or Cockpit kayaks.
Games sessions as part of multi-activity day or party
Guided trips from our base on the river Mersey. Short / medium / long. Or Guided trips on local canals (See Go Canoeing Pages)
Skills courses to learn and improve (See courses & Qualifications page)

Mountain biking

We have a fleet of bikes that are suitable for ages 8-80 in groups of up to 10.

Options:
Games and skills session with short ride
Mersey valley ride (variable lengths)
Skills courses for all ages (See Coaching & Qualifications page)
Guided trips or coaching sessions at a venue to suit you. (Peak District/bike parks)

Teamwork Challenges

We have a series of Teamwork Challenge activities that can take about 20 minutes each and can be put together as a short session or a half day activity called ‘Mission Impossible’. This has become increasingly popular as part of a teambuilding day for Corporate Groups and for Schools during Transition days in Sept. We have run this at the school’s grounds or at our site for up to 80 per session.

Orienteering

We have 3 permanent courses in and around our grounds that are suitable for Primary and KS3. WE can install temporary courses throughout the local Mersey Vale and we have run courses for GCSE in parks close to some schools. This can be done as a 1 our session as part of a multi activity day or party. Maximum of 30 per session.

Woodland Games and handicrafts

You wouldn’t believe how popular these traditional games still are for the ipad generation. Defend the Flag, Camoflague, Sardines and a few others. Mudfaces, miniraft race.

Bushcraft

We have a dedicated Bushcraft area in a small area of woodland near our Centre where we can run sessions for 1.5 hours to all day. Popular activities are fire starting, Tarp shelters, Dens, cooking.

Environmental Education days

Near our site we have woodland, meadow, a great pond and the river. All these activities are designed by a qualified teacher and have classroom support activites.
